So does anyone still race ZX-5's & SP's?

As the title says really.

I bought a standard ZX-5 a few years ago, and upgraded it to the SP. I've only raced a handful of times due to other commitments, however, this year, I'd like to start racing regularly.

Just wondering if people are still racing these? Are parts still easy to get hold of?

Here's a picture of my hardly used ZX-5

That looks good to go. You'll find that it will more than hold its own against the newer cars with the right setup. There are plenty of people on the kyosho forum more than happy to help with any questions you have.

If your looking for parts backup,Pbm models,je spares and inside line racing have good stocks.

love my sp

I am still using my sp, 3 yrs n countin:).Have you got any pics of the car without the shell?
Just about everyone here has had, or ran a zx5, or the sp and have now moved onto the fs's:eh?: which is FANTASTIC, but this was my first 4wd and cant move on:wub.

I am sure Neil will be along shortly to confirm but I can not see parts being an issue.

All the bits that wear or break (not many of either) are common with another model so should be available. You might have to wait a few days if you order something not common with the current cars but Kyosho UK do a great job of getting parts out to the shops in double quick time.

For the fastest service use a shop that does a lot of Kyosho trade, JE Spares should be your first point of call (which you will need to do for the non common parts).

I personally say look at converting it to an FS as that was a definite step up in performance but if you want to keep it an SP it will do just fine.

Parts are not a problem, and i think we may have a FS conversion still in stock.

It's got a 6.5 brushless motor, and still runs with NIHM batteries.

Probably still a cracking car if I can pull my finger out and get racing.

??

Wrong posting! Sorry

brooksy 10-03-2012 09:13 PM

Buy the small bore Kyosho shocks. They're top notch. Unless your a top driver you won't know the difference with the big bores on in my opinion.

markyboy 10-03-2012 09:51 PM

and were would be the best place for them can only find big bore:blush:

brooksy 10-03-2012 11:04 PM

Aaaah....that's a good question. The thing is now the new kits both 4+2wd(I think) have big bores in them.

I think you'll still be paying around the £80 mark for a full set of small bores if you can get hold of them.

If I were you I'd give Kevin Lee a ring at insideline racing. He's also a team driver for Kyosho

thanks mate i pm'd him, dont want to part with 80 quid tho can get a new buggy for that:D

kek23k 11-03-2012 12:48 AM

LOL I said they were available, I never said they were cheap! If you've got a proper SP then you should already have the velvet shocks on there, these are the small bores that everyone is using when they don't use big bore. Hope that helps :Dx

markyboy 11-03-2012 01:27 AM

:phehe,i think ill just change the springs any idea of what other springs will fit???:D tbh all i want is for the springs to not look so cheap and a bit more meat to them
