Tyre/tire Question?
 

After getting some GREAT advice on running mini pins yellow/blue's at our local indoor offroad carpet track, I'm wondering what everyones uses outdoors? I'm in Canada and the outdoor tracks are dry, hard packed and at times very dusty. I run both 2wd and 4wd

Do you race on dirt or grass?

If its grass then a mini spike but for dirt, i would see what other guys use at the track.

I really liked the Jconcepts double dees when i raced on dirt, they worked well when the track was slippy in the morning right up to when the blue groove came up:thumbsup:

We run mostly on dry dirt (damp at times but never muddy), most of the guys are running Pro-line and Losi tires - easy to get. The schumacher tire brand is a bit harder to find over here. The doubles look very close to the proline bowties that work very well

No not if its dirt, i would go for the double dees i thought they were brilliant, more grip and feel than the equivelant proline tyre, the inserts dont fall apart either.:thumbsup:

get as many different tyres as possible, then test with them

In South Africa, all tracks are outdoor, hard packed sand. traction is low to put it mildly, I have found Losi IFMAR stud in red compund to offer very good traction, along with the new GRP tires.

I think that tires are important, but setup is more crucial on low grip tracks, some of the car setup theory applies in reverse when it comes to low grip sandy tracks
