I've used this for a while and it stays on as long as any other I've ever used, and the colours are cool.

Plus 1 here main thing is make sure the surface is clean. Or nothing sticks

Get urself down to Tesco's matey... they do some black stick on velcro that me and a few others have been using with no problems at all... strong velcro and sticks really well to the chassis. Its cheap too at only a few quid.

Highly recommended.

You'll probably find it in the same place as they sell sewing stuff!

losichris 01-01-2012 06:43 PM

Will cut some off for you if i remember

Clean the surfaces with lighter fluid and then wipe off any that hasn't evaporated, it should stick better then.

hotrodchris 01-01-2012 08:55 PM

Main thing the instructions say is once stuck down leave it for 24 hours at least before pulling it apart! and having actually read the instructions after getting fed up constantly relacing it, it seems to work!

I use heavy duty Velcro its never come off but the secret about applying Velcro or even decals for the body shell is that you have to completely clean the area for sticking so that its clean from grease etc it may look clean to you but its not you must do it or it will start to peel off over time. I use lighter fluid it cleans everything off .use it under supervision if under 18 .remember it is very flammable.!

I have always used Heavy Duty Velcro bought by the metre off eBay. Athena crafts on eBay sell lengths of hook separately from the loops.... I seem to get through more hooks than loops!
Never had a problem as long as you thoroughly clean the surfaces - I use electrical contact cleaner from Maplins

That's right mate, it's the same as the glue on the back of vinyl signs. When you first stick it down, you can unstick and reapply it. Leave it 24 hours until it's set properly and good luck removing it. Vinyl is horrendous to remove after it's been stuck down over night.

I use the schumacher stuff but i'd imagine most stuff will stick with a clean surface and then left overnight.

3 year old thread FTW

Ashlandchris 11-05-2015 08:02 AM

I know this is an old thread, but I too have struggled with Velcro that wont stick.
I tried some of this a few weeks ago and I have to say it has been just about the best I have bought so far in terms of the adhesive on the back. Nothing frayed yet and stuck solid!!
