hey all just curious if there's any computer wizards/closet geniuses.

keep getting a error on a windows 7 laptop.

'wireless service is not running on this computer'

can divulge more if a wizard appears.

Click Start, type services.msc then press Enter.
Scroll down to "WLAN AutoConfig" and right click on it and select Properties. Set it to Automatic and not Disabled, and press the Start button, then click OK.
That should start the service.

2nd that!.....make sure any services that should be on automatic are actually started....

problem:any ways it christmas day...going great then my sisters laptop WILL not connect to the internet.
did the usual restarted the router check the internet was working (via my desktop)it is.got windows to 'diagnose it' it finds the issue but cannot correct it or "Not fixed".
this is what i get

its also not showing up any avaliable connections in the 'network and sharing centre' and when you 'connect to a network' nothing happens.

only strange thing is when i connect the laptop to the router direct via a cable it works on the internet.ive browesd a few other forums looking for helps but i thought it be better to start here properly.

ive tried sfc/scannow and no dice.

also when i 'services.msc' to make sure WLAN autoconfig is turned to automatic(which it is)but then try to manually 'start' it i get Error 193: 0xc1

any help would amazing and really well received,i appologise in advance for my first thread being a long one but my theory was get as much info down as possible to try and make solving the problem easier.lastly i would like to thank people in advance for any input they give.

It could be worthwhile checking that the wireless is enabled in the bois

Some laptops have a phyiscal switch on them somewhere to enable/disable the wireless capability. Does yours have one and is it switched on?

Or if not a switch, could be on one of the "F" buttons??

Must have tried a reboot, but while off disconnect from mains, remove battery, wait a bit and connect it all up again and try, possibly turn out to be a waste of time but I would give it a go.

Do you have a password/network key, is wap etc set, possibly enter the router settings via the other computer and switch that off - run it as unsecured,

I second this option... have a close look for dark blue pics on the laptop of a SatDish ... this will need be turned on using the same dark blue coloured 'Fn' button (Fn = Function) the 'Fn' button is usually next to the Left 'Ctrl' button.

As a rule WiFi on/off is 'Fn + F11'

I'd also go with the WiFi having accidentally been turned off... I have a Dell where the switch is very easy to brush against and kill the wireless connection.

If that's not the case and it is on, try turning the WiFi off and back on, my Win 7 media PC requires this every now and again, for no reason I've been able to trace.
