Losi 22 Best Hop Ups
 

Now I have a few cars and I am selling some to concentrate on the 22 as it seems to drive the best out of the box.

I want to re-invest some money from my unused cars and buy some hop ups.

What are the best ones? Carbon mounts, alloy parts, weight kits etc etc?

I run saddles in mid.

Any suggestions would be most helpful

The Cream rear weight is a must for me, if you haven't already got one

What retailer do you buy Cream products from?

I found that Nick Gurnell's 3 hole tapered shock pistons transformed my 22 and really tamed the handling to being very predictable,

search for 'Nick' and his thread in the Losi section, really helpful, knowledgable chap ;)

+1.5mm aluminium rear wheel hexes have dialled out some of the excessive steering characteristics too.

Gear Diff is next thing to be fitted but i'm sceptical over perfomance gains in a 2WD and don't mind the maintainence or setting up of a ball diff... worth a try as they are reasonable cost wise.

Must get a Cream weight too :blush:

I'd spend the most money on rear tyres and track time, that's what will benefit you more than bling to bolt on.

Further to the last re the hop ups. I have now, a rear Losi Weight, Cream front bulkhead weight, rudebits saddle weight, loads of different castor blocks and shim sets and pistons etc etc etc. What I need is a good setup sheet for Astro at EPR. I would really be interested in a good setup. I may check Petit RC as I remember they use to have a good database

If I had to recommend a hop up I would say the aluminium rear camber block :thumbsup: Beyond that the low friction O-Rings are a big improvement on the stock o-rings, really helps to reduce friction in the shock.

RTR Shock Caps are really cool and help you build the shocks with no rebound.
Like Delves says, low friction O-rings are also cool.
don't forget Tungsten Carbide Diff and Thrust balls if you don't want to go down the gear diff route.

The Alloy rear wheel hexes can enable you to easily tune the forward drive ;)
I'd stare with 0 offset but have a pair of 0.75mm offsets in my box for when I need a bit more.

Oh - and White Wheels. The practice ones in the box are at least a second a lap slower than white ones. Everyone except Griff knows that!!:p

Weird, my cars are always faster on yellow wheels, so much that I've given up buying white ones;)

Yes the cream Weight will help you. I kid you not I am eternal sceptic but succumbed to all the good stuff said about the cream items and bought the rear weight for my 22 and it was the thing that made the biggest positive difference for me.

A must buy.

The motor on a mid 22 is a long way forward compared to other mid motor 2wds, this pushes the weight of the motor away from the rear wheels, the Cream weight puts that weight back where it should be, and nice and low to.

Gave my car the traction it lack out of slow, low grip corners on worn out grass tracks, much like the TLR weight set does, but without the nasty traits that come with a huge bit of brass hanging off the back:thumbsup:

Rear tyres last longer now to, as there is less wheel spin.
