SHOCKS Big bores or slim?

I really like the big bore shocks on the DEX210 and am really liking the 210 better than I have any other 2wd car that I have owned BUT I have a DEX410 full fat and now a DEX410V3 so have both slim and big bore setups. It also seems that from the pictures of the JC Clash where Hupo won he was using slim shocks. So far after building the V3 I like the way that the car can soak up the landings better but I have not tried back to back testing enough to say whether or not they are any better and was wondering what other peoples opinion was.

Grant, I have the 410r and v3, I have both cars set up the same apart from different shocks. It may just be me but I seem to be quicker and more consistant with the 410r.

Cammers you are on fire with yours :woot: I have used some 12mm aluminum tube I purchased from homebase that fits over the shaft nice and snug. The tube is nearly 1m long so can cut some up for you. I only tried the V3 for the first time last night at SHRCCC but did not have time to try my V1 against it. The biggest problem I found was the huge amount of steering but am going to put in the 2mm spacers in the front that may help with this.

I found the slim shocks better indoors and the big bores better outdoors.
I have a V3 on order and il be using my slim shocks indoors I think.

But saying that my big bores may just be setup badly haha!

I bought a set of big bores this summer for my 410R and spend quite a bit of time playing with the set ups. I still don't find the big bores to have a noticeable improvement over the originals.

I think big bores setups for 1/10th are not perfected yet, hence the more consistent thoughts about small bores.

Trying back and forth on the 410, the small are easier to drive but more roll over on high speed open corners and are less stable on bumps/jumps. not more bottoming with the BB on the positive side

I guess we have to work on pistons as most of them need drilling to custom diameters. So far I found them too smooth (not enough pack) and to slow to respond.

Hope I will find a good setup on my BB Vega as I sold the other one with small bores ! :woot:

Why did you find SB better indoor ?

As you say, I got them to react quicker. When my new big bores arrive I'm going to do the same setup as the small shocks first with 2 & 3 holes
Just to do a like for like comparison.

I know of several people who have gone back to small bore shock across the brands with the exception of Losi BB shocks.
