Essential cougar hop ups

Considering a cougar sv s1 due to the superb price
What if any are the essential hop ups needed
The car will be mainly racing on astro with the odd race on carpet
Cheers in advance :D

Get some decent quality bearings in the gearbox - that will save you from loads of 'box related issues.

Its hard to say really, not knowing how good or bad a driver you are but I would say get carbon fibre shock towers and some front hub carriers, spare front bulkhead would be useful too. These are the only items that I have needed to replace in 6 months of running the car.

big bore shocks are the only must have i would say

Would say i am a average club driver, getting better by the week or to put it another way i am about 3-4 seconds a lap slower than kev lee round stotfold

I'm only an average club racer myself, but I would agree with Bigred when he says the big bores are a MUST have. All the other parts mentioned are handy to have as spares.

How much are the big bores to buy?

gainsy 15-12-2011 02:24 PM

Looks like £84 for both sets
Thanks for the advice guys

I would just buy a good second hand Cougar Pro, some on ebay/oople at around £100, much better spec that the S1 and normally loaded with option parts etc

h0m3sy 15-12-2011 03:07 PM

Thats what I did Mark, got an absolute bargain from Mikey Scott, and as you say loaded with extras.

Cheers guys i will keep my eyes peeled for 1 once the rango has gone :D

jim76 15-12-2011 04:52 PM

why sell the rango to get a cougar? The cougar is a good car on certain tracks, and a handful on others. It certainly won't be any better than a 210. Unless the majority of people at your club run cougars so spares back up will be better?

Skye 15-12-2011 04:56 PM

:o Since when have you been selling the 210 mate??

I have my reasons ;)

fair enough.

If you buy second hand, just make sure it has the upgraded gears in the gearbox, as the early batches were poor. the 5 degree front hubs are a must. Apart from that it's pretty ok.

James barker had one for sale a couple of days ago.
