One way diffs etc allow the front wheels to spin at a different rate to the back, or to put it another way the front drive is only used when it's actually needed.

The big downside is that only the rear wheels can be used for braking.

It's one of those things that is simple when it's in front of you but very hard to explain!

the one-way can make the car turn in more agresively, but also makes the car more unstable under braking as mentioned.
The layshaft one-way for the cat can be pinned up to make it full time 4wd again so you can opt in or out on different tracks with out having to remove all the front belts each time.
I have one for sale if you wanted to try one

They used to be all the rage with the team a few years back, but Im not any of them still use it.

I loved it and wouldnt have raced without it at the start.
It made my SX2 consistent through a corner, especially on entry when there was a bit of braking going on.
However, I now perfer it without the one-way as I brake a lot more than I used to.

...oh, and its craic, not crack
hehehe. :p

Hows the craic?
Craic or CRACK is a term for fun, entertainment and enjoyable conversation - particularly prominent in Ireland. It is the freebase form of cocaine that can be smoked and is the most addictive form of cocaine.
It affects the brain chemistry of the 'enjoyer' giving a feeling of euphoria but after 5 minutes the dopermene levels drop off leaving the user feeling low and depressed with occasional full blown psychosis.
