Lipo problem!!!

One of my cells in my Turnigy 4500mah 4s battery had gone bust I THINK.

Its a brand new battery and was only used for 3 minutes to test it out.
All the cells have reached 4.10v but one of them will NOT go higher than 3.84v

Whats wrong?

Thanks

Dont know if this is of any help mate, but I had a similar experience.

Sometimes some of my cells wouldnt go above a certain voltage when charging (anywhere from 3.8v to 4.1v)
It turned out to be a dodgy connection on my balance board going from the battery to my charger.

Took it apart, repaired the broken connection with some wire, and it works 100% again.

Hmm that's weird. All my other battery's charged fine?.My friend has the same charger so might try his.

Thanks for the help though :)

I might just try running it,then re charging it because some new battery's need some cycles through them before being fully charged.

To be honest it sounds like you have a duff cell, or maybe a bad connection inside the pack. Have you contacted Hobbyking about it?

Bought it from a U.K seller with Warranty so all should be good.My charger detects bad connections and warns me,the connections seem fine to be honest.

i would put money on that your carger will only check open circuits/shorts, not high resistances

Do you possess a balancing charger that cycles batteries? and have you tried doing a proper balance charge after a long discharge by the charger?
You may find that the pack needs balancing properly first - one cell may be reaching an abnormally high voltage and then the charger shuts down at 8.4 volts, leaving the low cell that little bit lower. The balance lead connected to the cells might be the problem too.

I had a pack go down recently, opened it up to check it out and found that one cell was a 5000mAh 30c pack and the other a 5000mAh 40c pack and that was from a 'reputable' Hong Kong supplier so it's not always as you thought you bought!

Chargers fine and balancers fine, all checked.
I used that battery a bit more and put it on Charge on 1.0amp and its been charging for 3 hours and its FINALLY going up.The cell is not damaged after all.
Just a new battery..

Thanks for all the help though.
