i was wondering how you lot charge your lead acid car battery, my conventional charger has died and considering buying a new one, but before i do i thought i see what others use,

do you use a conventional mains charger like this?

or using your mains power supply with your r/c cell charger,

ideally yowant a charge that has a maintenance mode/setting

I was using a cheap car battery charger, but that didn't have any sort of proper cutout/trickle mode to it, so wasn't very trusting of it. Then tried my etronix charger as it has a lead acid mode, however I never found it very effective, either cutting out with a timer limit or cutting out via a thermal trip...so gave up on that and bought a Numax leisure battery charger instead...

Think I actually picked mine up on ebay for less than most places were selling it, so shop around, but have to say it works really well, awesome little charger that I thoroughly recommend!

I use a smart motorcycle/car battery charger,as it is the only charger I can find to charge my huge gel cell.

I use an Optimate, I think its the best charger you can get.
I really got it for my motorbike but it seems to keep my leisure battery in best shape.:)
