Schumacher Cougar ups and downs

what are the ups and downs of the schumacher cougar?

bigred5765 05-12-2011 07:43 PM

ups
fast
strong
lots of good setups available
don't need many spares
spares when needed are easily and readily available
and back up from schuy is second to none

down sides
diff rebuilds can be a little fiddley if your unsure of what your doing
or dont have the right tools
hmm ill have to get back to you on that not many and we have been running it 2 years or so

Can only add a few "up's" to the above.....fantastic handling, jumps great, good tune ups available (eg saddle pack chassis)

Waiting another 20 days to get it has got to be a downside. And I guess this means you will be pinching my lipo's too now (I'm his dad by the way).

Just make sure you get some of these http://www.racing-cars.com/pp/Old_Ca...voc/HW010.html it makes build the diff much easier

Another up it's very easy on the eye:wub. The only problem i've had with mine was breaking the original layshaft. I've upgraded it to the scheuy one peice layshaft and now it's bullet proof. However i've known people who've run the original one from day one with no problem. You'll love it regardless .

well....

I got one 2nd hand 3 month ago and have raced it every week since, twice a week some weeks....
I have jus got back into the hobby after 22 years away, so i guess the few breakages i have had were normal and expected.

Spares, i would advise..........

front wishbones,
shock mount(front).
front hub/carriers.

and maybe the top and bottom plates for the front in case......

otherwise, the cougar has been pretty reliable and does perform well, when set up right.

I changed to saddles recently and i think it handles better now.....

I prefer 3wd and my sx3, but on sunday, indoors, i did both classes and the cougar was 1 lap faster than the cat? mad, it just seemed to love the track that day. Go figure....

You wont regret getting the cougar, I love it now and will be sticking with shumy as the spares/backup is really, as mentioned before, 2nd to none........... Loads of them about and people will always have what you need and the help..... was tempted to stray away but decided that staying british is a good plan...

Happy Racin!!!:woot:

The bad points are when you melt a complete gearbox because of bearings falling apart for the second time, the good parts are when you get an email from Schumacher to say that there are sending a complete gearbox foc sweet, the other good parts are racing the cougar

WOOHOO

Great result, thats the quality of the schumy back up.......... cant fault it at all. I had a small package never arrive, they sent a replacement tracked the next day after the 7 days standard wait. awsome. Hence why the cat and the cougar will be my main drive from now on, unless someone wants to sponser me to wreck, sorry drive there buggies..............:woot::thumbsup::thumbsup:
