Wrexham Model Car Club - New outdoor track

Here at Wrexham Model Car Club we are currently flattening a piece of land on site ready for a brand new off-road track. The trouble is we as a club have not done off-road for a few years now and we want to do this new track the best we can.

So what I am asking is what do you all think of the idea and also what kind of a track/features would you like to see on it? The land we have is 45M long and 35M wide at one end and 15M at the other. We are open to any ideas and hopefully track designs.

Thanks

Adrian Jones (Race Director)

Jumps and plenty of them so we can get plenty of 'AIR' time. :p
Banked corners and multi surfaces.

Rythym Sections...

"Consistent" Doubles with a decent landing area or downslope
A Large table top with a long down ramp so you can get good air, so it feels really good when you get a nice landing!

Some imaginative corners or the ability to change the layout, and NO CONCRETE or TARMAC sections, they just kill tyres and are not fun!

Wxm

Fast and flowing to get the most out of the motors etc, muti-surface with table top and jumps, imaginative aspects that will make a car's handling vary. Make it as challenging to the top drivers as us mere mortals.

If you need Astroturf for the track try contacting McArdle Astroturf, they are happy to give it away if you can collect it. Be aware it's very heavy.

With our new website members can post pictures by themselfs! The people building the track are going to do this and I will keep you up to date with whats happening!

When we lay the track I might be asking people if they would like to come along and help with the forming of the track as we want to get this as near perfect as we can.

Hi Wrexham guys. Any news yet?

There seems to have a been alot of optimism surrounding the club at the back end of last year and the months that followed however it now seems to have gone quiet.

From other threads it appears that the club is still running somewhere nearby on a Friday in a Village Hall but there is no update on the Off Road track.

Can anyone shed any light as Wrexham used to be a big club holding National Recognised Events in Off and On Road. I'd love to race there and as I'm based not to far in Chester I would be willing to give a hand

Opps, I just noticed how old this thread is!

Hello I've looked on the Wrexham model car club website it seems like it hasn't been updated in along time. Also people dont seem to know much about it anymore lack of information about alot of it.

I'm wandering whats going on with this Wrexham club. I've checked Mold and Oswestry car modeling clubs they seem to be up to date and better informed with whats going on with there clubs.

Hi People

As most of you are probably aware, Wrexham model car club has had to move venue due to extreemly high running costs (over £1500 a month).

The club now race at Bradley village hall in Wrexham (near Lindop Toyota) every friday night from 6pm onwards. £4 members, £5 non members. The race format is 3 qualifiers and 2 finals. The club is pretty busy with a typical club night catering for 20-40 members.

Main classes are:

Mardave v12 - 27t motor limit or G2 brushless with 4.8v 4 cell or 1s lipo.

Carsima 1/14th touring cars - no motor kv limit, either 7.2v nimh or 7.4v lipo (must be hard cased)

They also cater for other classes but will be mixed in a heat due to number of racers.

If anyone would like more info on the club please feel free to contact me on 01978 355231 or [email protected]

Many thanks

Sion

Sion Wedley 24-02-2010 10:52 AM

Also Wrexham MCC are looking to going back outdoors racing at the previous venue by Kelloggs on Bryn lane on Wrexham industrial estate.

Just got a few things to sort with the land owner before they actually make the move, but the indoor racing will still be held at Bradley village hall throughout the winter season (sep-mar)

Will keep you up to date.
