trying to build a durga quickly any tips

hiya im now going to be building my own durga tomorow after building my brother quite a few months ago
just wanted to know if youve got any tips / hints on how to build it quickly or just anything in general
cheers

1 - hex head screws
2 - M3 tap
have any bits fallen off of your brother yet?

good luck with your build!

andy_n 27-02-2008 10:22 PM

hiya well i cant get the screw kit yet as im hoping to race it on friday
noo no bits have fallen off yet although there was a problem with the rear diff melting that was soon resolved though

DCM 27-02-2008 10:34 PM

tap threads with a cap head screw and some of the Tamiya AW Grease, and be thorough

andy_n 27-02-2008 10:51 PM

i just did my brothers with an m3 tap easier than using a screw really lol

I used a screw on an electric drill - even easier than a tap! :p

take care with the diffs, make sure you glue the plates properly (degrease them first) or the diff might end up slipping.

I used a M3 tap with a electric drill, even more easier :p

When I hit full throttle when exiting a corner, the car tends to oversteer, even with a old 15T motor. First I thought the front diff was slipping so all the power went to the rear, but both diffs are fine and thight. I never experienced this type of oversteer with the DF03... Is this normal?

Yeah, mine is doing that too . I've checked the toe settings and it was at 3+ degrees toe-out which can't have helped - although it had loads of steering! I've not checked it since I've corrected it to 1 degree toe-in but I hope it makes it more stable even if I lose a bit of steering.

Mine seemed quite good out of corners even with the poorly setup suspension until I tightened the (slack) rear belt and screwed the rear diff a bit tighter. I don't know if this has anything to do with it ie, by putting more torque to the rear? I'm sure some of the more experienced chassis tuners on here will be able to assist.

On another point although mine has had about 35 minutes of racing so far, the high pitched whining/squeeling noise it has always made is getting louder. Any ideas. I'm running a 7.5 turn brushless with a 16t pinion. Gearing chart suggests I should be using a 15t pinion but cannot find one anywhere. Ho hum.

well iv got it morealess finoished all if got too do if fasten in the electrics put the spoiler on and im gunna change the pinion apart from that finished

hiya guys gave it a good run last night at my local club but its really tight as in really slow motor gets red hot as does the esc any ideas

2 bros + 12 hours = 1 durga

Sweet. Time to do it again with the B44, dude!:D

DCM 25-06-2008 09:08 PM

how did it take 12 hours with 2 of them!!!

Southwell 25-06-2008 09:16 PM

12 hours? HOURS!! Are you serious? lol. Then again building it off a table for a lot of it isn't exactly easy. Got any pics of it done?
Pretty nifty idea though, other people should do that.

Hey... we were using allen keys!

(muppets, I know - but it was sunday and the shops were closed so we couldn't get hold of hex drivers....)

falcon pwner 25-06-2008 09:25 PM

we spent about 2 hrs trying to fit the the A12 hinge pin blocks on step 2 of the build alone. it was all worth it, and the car is ace!

I think the last one I had, it was built and nearly sprayed in 12 hours, in bits and peices.... haha but then I did throw on the allow suspension holders which halved the build time!!
