B4.1/C4.1 Notchy diff

Hi,

I am rebuilding my diff and it feels very notchy (like i can feel every ball and it locks in between each one)

I have replaced every component and still feels the same. If I back the diff screw off 3/4 to 1 turn it feels slightly better.

What am i doing wrong, any ideas?

Thanks.

What grease are you using?

It sounds like you overtightened it initially, then you end up with small indentations where the balls have been squashed into the rings,re build it again(turn the rings over) and stop tightening it when you feel it fully compress the spring (go gently) then back it off.

Am using the Assocciated diff grease.

Im not forcing the nut to do up, but am tightening fully then backing off as per manual.

Will try turning the rings over and tightening up until i have no diff slip rather than backing off.

Thanks.
