Which Buggy

Hi. My name is Jim and yes I Know :D ......We could debate the merrits of each buggy manufacturer all evening

Just restarted Rc racing after a break of 5 years and bought a Tamiya mini M05. Raced two evenings at Maritime and one evening at Sidcup. I forgot how adictive rc racing is!! After setting up the mini I am now nearly broke in the hobby fund as not only have i had to do my own I have had to set one up for my daughter to, so double the cost.

Found your website and would really like to try the indoor off road as many years ago I used to race 1/8 TT EB4 at Wrotham. Looking to buy a 4x4 buggy that is up to the rigours of club racing, upgradable and most important....afordable! Max approx £200
I have a 27 turn stock Brushed motor with venom speed contoller. Will this do to start off with?

Planning on a visit soon

Regards Jim

Hi Jim and welcome to the FORCC section!

Best bet for you in all honesty is to come pay us a visit one Wednesday, see what we get up to, see what's popular, what's in your budget etc etc.

You can most definitely get started at FORCC with basic equipment as we cater for all ages and abilities (and pocket depths) - but before shelling out any of your hard earned £'s you really would be well advised to come and have a nose around and ask as many questions as you like. Sure we can give more answers and advice than you have questions!!

Hope to see you soon

I would have to agree with the above, I have run my Durango for about 10months and it's been brilliant.. I was a novice and have broken some major parts but cheap to repair/replace and the car still goes really well..

Update..........

My DB01R supplied by Nathan is now built. It has been fitted with the Motor I bought from Disco stu and the Bullistorm speed contoller as advised by several club members on my visit before Christmas. Radio will be a Spektrum DX3. Just need a body shell which is in hand.

A big thanks to all of the club members. Now just got to get my membership paid and start to enjoy the fun!

In for more tests and surgery this Wednesday so it will be a couple of weeks before I can get down to the club.

Nearly forgot... Can anyone suggest some settings for the speed contoller to start with. I have the Hobbywing usb card and software which appears to work fine with the bullistorm.

 Jimbo

It's probably best to speak to Mr. Rand again as he will be able to advice on what version the esc and programme box are running and what best set up to have for our slippery floor using the 13.5 motor.

He will also help with boost, timing and turning things like turbo off as well as a voltage cut off for lipo safety. Speak to him about tyres as some of the top drivers, of which he is one, are experimenting with mini spikes as apposed to full spikes looking at lap times and wear rates etc.

I hope this helps,

Scott..

ps. good luck with your racing and hope to see you there in a couple of weeks or so..
