Even though i searched for a decent Avante, i couldnt justify the £350, so decided to buy a few projects.... Some good advice and if your after vintage and mint. Its far cheaper to buy one that do an old one up:cry:.

A few of the projects can be seen hear.

Tamiya fox, frog and fire dragon all wanted new shells. To those that dont know the shells alone for them came to over £100... Then they re released the frog grrr lol

Colinevan 26-02-2008 09:44 PM

A few close up of my fav old style buggies. My personal Fav was the falcon and Boomerang.

This one was better than mint.....

Never ran at all.

Managed to find an old Astute on the lovely bay. Very rare these days and im still on the look out for one now. In the end I bought a new shell and decal set from Hong kong for £40 and made it look A1, Wheels and tyres were quite hard to get hold of though as well.

Nice car and from memory they were one of the first real serious 2wd cars to come from Tamiya.

Hmm needed a 4x4 style so found a reasonable Mud blaster.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...l/P5130171.jpg

Bodywork from the subaru brat and a chassis from the Blackfoot/ Monster Beetle. This particular car was hated and never popular.

Colinevan 26-02-2008 09:57 PM

A fire dragon was another purchase, many a night spent on ebay after a few beers buying cars that needed to much work lol.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...l/P3130190.jpg

This car was won for £30 then i promply bought a new bodyset for £30 and all the plastics were knackered lol.... Hmmmm :woot:

GRIFF55 26-02-2008 09:59 PM

ohhh lokat that BIGWIG!!! NICE

Colinevan 26-02-2008 10:01 PM

The fox.

Very old and highly collectable. This one needed a new shell. After a worldwide search and a few dodgy deals i managed to find a bodyset for the car. Hmm just dont ask how much it cost me lol.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...l/PC070213.jpg
Sold this car and decided to split the 2 down, rolling chassis and bodyset still not painted etc/ Bodyset sold for more than the car lol.

Egress !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My all time fav non Kyosho car .........

Colinevan 26-02-2008 10:16 PM

The Big Wig...

Hated this car when i was younger, but had to buy one as the engineering in this vintage was unbelievable.

Cvd with rubber gaitors to protect from dust, full bearings, super smooth 4wd mech, interesting sterring arrangement like a real car, interesting shell which even has details like exhausts and air scoops a plenty, hmmm i can just imagine a novak gtb under there getting plenty of airflow lol.

Funny thing is , it weighed more than a real car lol.

Tamiya frog..

This one was painted frog green and looked abso minging, I decided to have a go and strip the paint off an original shell and try those repro stickers with original sponsor logos . Eeek.

I bet i used about £30 worth of nitro fuel that i had from one of my racing revo's and about a million hours of time to get the result that you see here. 98 percent off lol. When i get the other 200 hours i'll finish this car lol.

GRRRRRR, Tamiya have now re release the car and all that time and effort wasted lol. Oh well lol.

Cougar..

This was bought as i had one of these and kept onto it. I did have this for sale a while back but got no interest and was practically giving it away for £30. Hmmm a very cheeky Northly lol:p was interested but even wanted free postage lol.

Have since been told it has the very important front shock mod using oversize chocks and new tower to cope wiht the shocks.

Keeping now :wub

Porka 959 Rothmans special..

I never liked this car as it seemed to boring, but i didnt realise how rare they were esp with the Rothmans livery. Supposedly Rothmans had some kind of lawsuit and Tamiya were looked at badly for advertising smoking ( or so i was told lol) future cars were not Rothmans liveries... If that makes sense lol.

This car had real nice suspension, the shocks were completely seperate to the springs like a real car. The shell was super detailed but very hard to paint and tbh i dont think any model car this day and age has as much detail as this shell and from memory this is very early 80s material.

I sold this for £200 lol. :woot:

Re the POrsche 959...

Forgot to mention, that was without the technigold motor you see there. (£200 car only)

That went for almost £50 on its own lol...:eh?:

Colinevan 26-02-2008 10:38 PM

Its a cobra..

Won on ebay for virtually nothing with full radio gear. Ironically i gave the car away for nothing as someone needed a receiver and servo lol. I think young James terrorised the local cats and B4's at southport with a similar car lol.
