mm3 mm4

what would be the difference between mm3 and mm4 motor positions other than the amount of cogs?

When you rev the car up in your hand you'll notice the acceleration thows the weight of the car backwards - stick on the brakes and the car will nose dive in the hand. The motor has the same effect as the wheels - the spinning weight will also effect the car. Having the motor run in the same direction as the wheels (MM4) will throw even more weight backwards - possibly at the expense of on-power steering, but potentially giving more traction.

Running the less common MM3 (like the early Xfactory X6 cars before they went to 4 gears) will run the motor in the opposite direction to the wheels so counteract them somewhat and there'll be less on-power traction but more steering.

I read a report from Hupo on the TD website where he used both MM3 and MM4 setups at one race as the track changed from very high grip where he used the MM3, to lower grip as the meeting went on and he switched to the 4-gear setup.
