How do you change the one way layshaft to permanent 4wd on the old girl? I remember it being possible but it was long ago in a distant memory and there is no mention of how to in the manual. Different layshaft gear or can you lock the current one?

There has to be a O-ring.Under it should be a hole, insert pin and you´re done.

Std kit one was a plastic "Clicker" affair, that couldn't be locked. The Speed Secret alloy roller was as cruse suggested - had a pin hole in it that was pined to the layshaft.

Not answering your question, but I received a Sx3 one-way from Schumacher today. I didn't order it on purpose, but for the life of me I can't remember what I meant to order. I often get part numbers wrong on orders!

Question is, will I ever use it? Will anyone?

U1910 is the uprated one way roller. However, to run it you also need a hardened layshaft. The layshaft that you list is probably hardened to be used with the one way, but it doesn't have slipper. So i'd guess that the hard layshaft, with slipper probably isn't available any more.

It was just the 2000 that came with the one way layshaft as standard, no? The EC and 98 both had fixed 4wd?

Bryan, I know the EC had the same layshaft as the original 2000. Unsure about the 98.
I remember I locked up the kit pulley/clicker part by supergluing them together.
Worked fine.

2000, EC, SE, 98 all had the same layshaft setup from what I recall. Which was a slipper clutch with one way "clicker".

not sure if i remember right but could u jam the clicker up like we did on the xx4 with a bit of nitro fuel tube

Not in the same was as the xx4 one, as there wasn't any adjustment on it (like xx4 one had). Might be possible, not sure, haven't seen one for so many years!

Thanks for the input, I wasn't sure if the ec/98 were the same. If they weren't then I did plan on liberating them from a mate's car ;) Superglue or fuel tubing looks like the only option now.
