410r battery fitment

i have got a 410r off ebay what is the right way to fit the battrty do you take the spur off or ram them in the side.

Dazzler 17-11-2011 07:46 PM

Spur out, no ramming required...

mattr 17-11-2011 07:47 PM

if you can ram them in the side, you've already broken something.

Spur comes off. There are plenty of videos around, even some on the durango website.

Think there are some instructions in the manual too.

I won't seem wierd after you've done it a few dozen times :)

If changing a set of batteries is causing potential problems i'd have read through the manual (TD website) so that you don't get caught out with anything while at a meeting.
Durango have a "different" way of doing things compared to other manufacturers and some of their designs/ideas may not be obvious to everyone.

When you think about it, pulling out two pins is just a couple of seconds, most battery retainers require something to be screwed, which takes longer.

Don't forget to use a Dremmel (or similar) to taper the front of the pins so they are easier to insert.

More weird than "ramming in the side"? :D

if fitting the cells has confused you, the correct shimming of the diff will blow your mind, probably best to put it back on ebay and save your self some grief.

I don't actually remove mine anymore. with the 2 clips out the spur lifts up enough for me to slip the 2 pack in and out. the driveshafts remain in the cups on the layshaft. once you've done if a few times it's easy and quick.
