DB-01 questions
 

Hi

can anyone tell me if any of these gears will fit into my Tamiya DB-01 chassis?

and im looking at getting a slipper clutch but cant decide between either a single or double any ideas? i will be running the car with a Reedy Stockstar 27t motor, LRP automatic esc and 3300 mah nimh battery, i wont be doing any racing but want to try and protect the gears etc

The normal slipper clutch seems to give slipping action to all four wheels, whereas the double slipper seems to have each plate connected to one of the pulleys.

The advantage is that when the rear wheels need to slip, you still have full power on the front wheels, and the other way around. So it would theoretically increase acceleration, especially when landing and shortly after landing jumps. The pads can't be adjusted individually in tension, so there doesn't seem to be a big setup advantage.

Even with the eBay price often at half of the MSRP, considering the price difference alone I'd go for a single slipper. Performance-wise I don't think the advantages are HUGE, but then again I don't own a DB01 or TRF501/511 :)

Those spur gears are fine, they're what I use and fit on the Tamiya slipper pads perfectly.

As for the slipper, get the normal one. It'll provide all the protection you need and a lot less cost than the double one.

Thanks guys I got the buggy about 7-8 months ago but never had much timefor it until now, so just trying to sort some upgrades out for it. It's just a shame my reedy stockstar needs new brushes (was my fault for snapping one)
