Personal Transponder deal!! It's time to get yours

Hi all,

I'm going to order two new transponders for myself.
If I order 5, I can get a 5% discount. If I order 10, I can get a 10% discount.

The transponders are £49.50 each - I'd suggest that every member has one.

Who want to go in with me to get the discount?

What are you getting? Are they the mylaps "Harry"?

Legacy555 07-11-2011 09:58 AM

See RClaps.com - they actually have a special offer at the moment - full price for each transponder is £44.50, so if 10 are ordered that will mean each one will be £40.05 - thats nearly £25 cheaper than mylaps harry.

Hey,

Just be aware the RClaps.com / MRT transponders are not the exact same as the MyLaps (AMB) PT.

The RClaps, have 10 or 20 pre-defined PT numbers in them, as far as I know these numbers are the same in all RClaps PTs.

The MYLaps (AMB) PTs on the other hand, each one has a unique number, exclusive to that PT.

So they are not a like for like exchange.

Personally the real advantage of the RClaps is to have your MYlaps transponder cloned with a RClaps transponder, giving you two transponders with the same number.
I got this done a few years ago. I've an original MYlaps pt in my 2wd, and a RClaps clone of it in my 4wd. (So when either car crossed the timing loop, the computer reads the same PT number.)

We thought this as well, but on inspecting two MRT transponders we discovered that they each had a unique number and were not just clones of each other.

Are you sure?

Reading the RClaps site:

PTX ID Numbers

The PTX is available as individually numbered transponders

(due to the AMB system having 'coded' ID numbers we cannot

produce new numbers, ID numbers are not guaranteed unique)

the ID number of each transponder can be changed by use of

a 'setup' button (20 alternative ID numbers are available).

Each individually numbered transponder has its 'custom' ID

number written on the supplied instruction sheet with the

20 alternative numbers also listed as two sets of 10 ID's .

It say that the RClaps PT will not have "new numbers".

Who's RClaps transponders did you look at?

Mick O',Leary had one, dont know where Dave got the second one. They had different numbers.

When I got a MRT a few months ago I enquired about this.
The reply was that they use numbers from defunct AMB txs so there could be a clone of that number already out there but as you are supplied with 20 numbers it is unlikely that there would be a clash.

adam_u 07-11-2011 11:08 AM

From what I can tell with the MRT PTX you get one 'unique' number on your transponder which is taken from a defunct AMB transponder - it's possible that there is a clone of it out there somewhere - then there are 20 other numbers in reserve which are the same 20 all MRTs have (also taken from 20 other txs) - so even if you had a heat of 21 drivers all with the MRTs and all of the 'unique numbers' clashed (think we're talking winning euromillions every week for a year odds here!) there would still be enough numbers to go round - that's as I understand it :)
