procat read drum differential problem

im building a stock procat from new parts and three donor cars.

firstly in the manual it recomends the use of silicon grease ms 1 or equiv. wouly tamiya molybdenum grease be ok.

page 4 of the manual shows using friction paper between a220 and t118. my donor car does not have this configuration. my steel washer has a hexagonal hole and sits into a hexagonal extrusion on t118. does anybody know why and do i stil need friction paper i cant imagine it doing anything.

thanks

With the hex you won't need the friction paper, as it was there to prevent the diff plates slipping on the outdrive, with the hex configuration this won't happen.

Ref the grease, moly grease is not the stuff to use, you'll need to get yourself some silicone grease.

thanks

brilliant thanks mate, is this a hop up part?

They certainly were not standard Procat. I'm not sure of the chassis to which they were released, but Kaszal has used them in his build and most certainly will have done his homework..

Have a look here.. Near the bottom (but I think he was using them before he carried out his 6mm main belt conversion)

You may need to be a bit more specific...

sorry

sorry mate, i bought a bumper load of bits and im trying to work out what is worth keeping. i have found hob e lube gear lube hl665 treacle in colour. it doesnt say its makeup could i use this as silicone grease

Dazzler 04-11-2011 09:05 PM

Doesn't sound like silicone diff grease to me. In fact, if it looks like treacle, I'd probably bin it :-)

You want some grease like this for the main diff balls / pressure plates.

And some like this, for the small thrust race: -

May be useful to add pics of what you've got, and the progression of your build / project..
