Nearly an expensive drive into work this morning
 

Approached the work carpark as normal, the garage door like barrier is ALWAYS permanently up until 10, and even after this time if you approach it, the barrier moves up automatically. The car in front had just gone through the barrier, so I started to follow them in. That was until I realised the barrier was moving down sharpish. I had to slam on the brakes, throw it into reverse and fly backwards, with the barrier narrowly missing my bonnet. Luckily the car behind had only just started to pull forwards so there was enough room to get out of the way.

Totally bemused by what had happened the security guard comes wandering over to advise that as a "trial" they are looking at no longer manning the barrier and you have to use your ID card to get into the car park and the barrier will come down after EVERY car. This was not communiucated, nor was there a warning sign in front of the barrier letting you know this was the case.

Absolutely livid - but thankful I got out of the way!

Yikes - wouldn't have been as amusing had there been another car directly behind your own.
