ko esprit universe 2.4 problems please help

hi all.
bought a ko universe 2.4 set last year 2nd hand but in new condition, problems started almost straight away with the tranny not binding to both my cars.
replaced the module 6 months ago with a new one and problem seemed to go away, but over last couple of weeks has now returned but much worse.
raced at chadderton on sunday was a nightmare was having to leave transmitter on most of the day in order to keep the red led on the module.
what should happen is the led should be on when switching tranny on but its not, even when holding button in on module and switching tranny on the led should dim for binding mode but this hardly happens.
on sunday at chadderton i was having to go outside to rebind my cars every race nearly or turn my tranny and car on 10 mins before each race and hope it would work, cant carry on like this with the unpredictability of these sets totally spoils your race day.
im now thinking that the problem lies between the tranny and the module not connecting to each other which in turn is causing binding problems.
so much appreciated if anyone can help or point me in the direction of someone who can repair such items.
many thanks jamie:confused:

As silly as it sounds, I had a similar issue and it does appear to be poor or loose connections between the module and transmitter.

I literally just wrapped insulation tape around the edges of the module so that it was a snug fit and the issue went away..

I brought my system s/hand, and there was actually tape already on, it was when I took it off the problem started, hence putting it back on..

Could you swap the module for a Spektrum to see if it solves the problem?

Dazzler 26-10-2011 10:54 AM

Matty, I've seen the same problem and the same resolution on spektrum and Ko modules..a friend of mine brought his new and still had to do this. Definately worth doing..

Same issue in this thread from way back..

Ive had the same fault on my set too. Had a bit of a panick until i realised it was just a bad connection between my spektrum unit in the back. I know before every race make sure its in securely. I may actually try the tape around the sides :)

or very carefully bend the pins a little bit stopped are problems

Yup, the module can work a bit loose, then it looks like it is working but it isnt. I had this as well.

Yes, this happened to me last meeting, it was the module not making a decent connection to the back of the tranny. Was also a 2nd hand unit so it probably happened to the previous owner too.
