yeah but i need it as fast as possible.

DCM 20-02-2008 10:42 AM

over that distance you would need a range booster on a household wifi router or you would get a drop in speed.

JCJC 20-02-2008 11:12 AM

I have a crimp tool & plugs, cable can be got for £13.50 - 50meters,
( http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Main_Ind...ter/index.html )
TLC have a branch in Oxford, Littlemore (ringroadnearcowley)
Screwfix also do stuff. (10meterpatchleadslongest+kits)

Understand may be seeing you Sat am.............

I wouldn't expect a drop until closer to 100 metres. 30 will be a doddle.

depends whats between the router and the computer though Ian... most home routers will struggle if there is a couple of walls, open air, no problem.

Cables still can't go through walls very well, they need the Black & Decker upgrade

DCM 20-02-2008 11:42 AM

Ian, if you read my first post, I said about 40m WiFi..... not cabled, cabled is 100m usualy, or used to be.

Yes, and i didn't read that properly

It's still about 100m, any further and you fibre to another switch.

super__dan 20-02-2008 03:59 PM

You're not wrong, 2 walls and my SKY netgear wireless craps out completely :(

Southwell 20-02-2008 04:17 PM

Yeah mine sucks too. You can get your sky details some way so you can use any router. Check out skyuser.co.uk, somewhere on there.
