How much liquid mask to buy?
 

As you might have noticed in the other thread I posted a while back, I've just bought an airbrush to paint my first shell and I am about to order some LM and paints. I'm now pondering how much to buy 4/8/16oz. How much is needed for each shell (approx) and how long does it keep for?

Hard to say, have never calculated it fully. Depending on the type of shell I would guess about 1.6oz per shell perhaps?? Some apply less/more than others though so no set rules. Stated shelf life of 12 months I think. It will work longer than that but the longer it is left the less efficiently it works.
How many bods do you paint? No point getting a 16oz bottle if you only do 2 or 3 bods a year.

I've had LM sitting around for years, literally, it should be fine, it kinda separates out though so make sure you really shake the bottle well, at least 2 minutes, then it will be fine to use. I've not had any problems using old stuff... Famous last words eh, watch me mess everything up this week now :lol:

I'll be mostly practicing on acetate and coke bottles for a while though.
I'll probably order 8oz bottle, seems like that will give me plenty to play with and still have enough left for plenty of shells.

don't waste your time with coke bottles, buy a few sheets of .75 lexan or some acrylic or perspex etc
