4WD Tyres and inserts
 

i have just got a 4wd hb d4 i am about to buy Schmacher yellow minipins from here -

are these the right tyres for indoor on carpet and also do these inserts fit front and rear

yes, yellow minipins are the tyre of choice indoors on carpet. what motor are you running, as they won;t last much more than a meeting with a very fast motor. If you run 19t on a small indoor track then they should last you 2-3 meetings.

the link to the inserts doesn't seem to work but i think you mean the edit foams? the medium blue foams should be fine with them. If you find the car has too much bite at the front the snip off a couple of rows of spikes on the outside, if this helps then you may just need the 2wd front tyres in future and just stretch them ove the 4wd rims, this is what i used to run as it gave a nice balance.

You guys are seriously harsh on your tyres!
I used to get 2-3 MONTHS out of my old minipins at club meets

could prlly do that on a 27 turn, but for 19 that sounds about right to me, they start to go off a little when the pins get below a certain length

Losi XX-4, IB4200's, Checkpoint 9x2 or 10x2, LRP quantum 2...
Having said that, we run quite a bit of slippy

and I'm tight

i ran mine in a xxx4 with a 10x1. i wouldn;t get much more than 2 meetings at club nights, one meeting if i was lucky at the big sunday meetings on a larger track.
The life reduced once the touring guys started using aditive on the carpet

Not sure what your 'skillz' are like - but I've always preferred mini spikes indoors since they are more forgiving generally. It depends on the track of course but pins will pretty much always be 'faster' - but they can be too agressive, whilst the mini-Spikes are just a bit more progressive and easier to drive. Just thought I'd mention them as I'm one that's usually always driven on mini spikes indoors.

Having said that - I've bought my first set of pins this winter and used them at three big meetings so far (york regional, worksop, supercup) and will use them at worksop this coming weekend too. they are getting a bit past their best but at Worksop they should be fine still.
I only really got the pins since I need to use them as a control tyre at worksop otherwise I'd still be using spikes. :thumbsup:

I used to drive on spikes but kinda forced myself to learn on pins, i don't like the way the back end sticks so i usually stand the rear shocks up a little and go softer on the fronts, might be worth trying if you find you prefer the slightly looser feel of spikes :)
