Can anybody shed some light on this alloy front diff housing and deck from an old Cat XLS/Procat

GPM made the alloy chassis parts for the procat in various colours,they were available from top gear models in the early 90`s.
i hade a procat back then with all the RPM chassis parts on it,i have some photo`s of it somewhere, may get them scanned and post them on here.

Clever design. Was it made by Wasp?

I particularly like the brackets for the crashback mounts and the belt tensioning screws... although a bit difficult to get to once assembled. Maybe with an allen key?

Yep. Definitely WASP. As is the Diff.

Yep, excellent hop up. Does it use the same bearings as the rest of the car 8x16x5?

What will you do with it TMG?

Thanks for the info guys, I have a few bits in the attic from cars I used to race in the early 90's. I used to race Schumacher cars back then, I have most of a Cat XLS, some bits from a Top Cat including a complete front end, a Cougar 2 99% complete and a Bosscat.

I only got back into racing last year after a 17 year break and did a few rounds of the ORCA Tamiya Mini Cup here in Ireland. I don't have the time to devote to racing off-road and it seems to have progressed greatly since I left so the standard simplicity of the Minis is just fine for me.

Kaszal, the bearings are the same size as the rest of the car and the tension was adjusted by allen key, but the positioning of the steering centre track rod made it a pig of a job.

The bearings as you say are standard 8x16x5's, But as I found out, the Diff needs to be the WASP one to allow the use of the 5mm wide bearings. If you try and fit an MMS diff, you'll need 4mm wide bearings. Unfortunately I could only ever find them as open not sealed or shielded.

You could easily modify the diff ring carriers to accommodate the standard bearings of course - if you have a lathe.

Just added some info to complement what we are looking at in this thread, have a read and look back at the sort of engineering effort that was going on to support this great hobby.

Damn if one just could get the bleprints for those gearboxes and pulleys should be easy to get them made.

The diff and diffhousing i have never seen before , I thought the Wasp front diff was the same as the MMS one , but i am not sure.
And those don't look like the diff you got.
