Yeah that's what I thought, just can't remember his name and it's been bugging me!

The RRCi meets were always good as an inbetween for regionals and Nationals, always busy and usually had a good few big names!

Ben beat me to it, im guessing it would be Mark Wray. He was from Nottingham and used to race with me and the old man at Donisthorpe. I think he was a Schumacher driver

KRob 05-10-2011 09:13 AM

Hi Nick,
Yep, Mark Wray - I know he's on Facebook if you were after him.

That's it!!!!! Well done that man....

It was just bugging the hell out of me, me and my Dad were talking about some of the "Good old days" - I've got a load of old Mags in the loft so I should get on and go through them and scan some pics of some of the names on here ;-)

Also really need to do some VCR to DVD Conversions but need to get a VCR first - I've got loads of old R/C racing on video, everything from RRCi meets, Nationals, Juniours, Euro's...... Should do it soon before they
deteriorate really.

Robbiejuk 05-10-2011 11:41 AM

I have Mary Wray's old Rc10 team at my house. He sold it to my friend when he went to schumacher. Came with loads of bits including an old andys conversion chassis which had trailing link rear wishbones. :)

I remember making my first RRCi A-final a wind torn track at the top of a hill somewhere around Leicester but I can't for the life of me remember the venue's name! I do remember being somewhat please with myself then dumping in the final :D

I also remember getting to one venue as ever with Rich Savage and his dad only to realise that I had left my transmitter in the boot of my own car .. DOH! I think it was Richard Barton who lent me his spare for the meeting.

Happy memories.

It was probably the old Leicester Jaguars club, at Markfield? You could see the M1 from it?

One grass and one sculpted dirt/grass with a rostrum in the middle. You had to drive down a slope past Football/Rugby pitches to get to it and there was often a Marching Band practising on the site somewhere!

Ahhhhh Leicester Jags, the only place in the world that was consistantly colder and wetter than coventry is now!!

I remember the one year (think it was a regional) where it rained all day and when it came to leaving cars could not get up the hill. Someone (whose name i cant remember) wanted £5 each to pull cars out, needless to say when he got stuck no- one helped him out

I did my first Juniours there, must have been 92 or 93 but Tricky Taylor was racing with me in U13's, he won the 2wd & 4wd and I was 2nd (4wd only, I didn't do 2wd back then)!

That track was quite good from what I remember, they used the left side for 2wd then the right one for 4wd?
