Just buy this stuff & follow the guidelines on the website
Jon's mask is the nuts

thanks buddy :)

one would have to agree

although, your first stop for rcs products should be your local hobby shop ;)

I used to use old skool tape and film to mask my shells, liquid mask is definitely the future, no more missed area's where you accidentally spray through. It's great stuff !

Hey,

Its simple enough just clean body as usual, then either brush, spray or sponge liquid mask on to the the body (inside obviously) dry and build it up a few coats ( i use 3-4 medium coats).

leave to fully dry and then cut out design as desired.

+1 on Jons (RCS) liquid mask works a treat

does anybody on here spray the liquid mask, and therefore able to advise what kit is best suited to this job?

I imagine the finish is much better when sprayed - as careful as I am to apply the mask thinly with a brush, it's never going to be as good as a spray tan !!

another big +1 for the RCS liquid mask. I've used everything else on the market and wouldn't use anything else now.
The guide on his website as said above is spot on.

yep, will provide a more uniform finish.

just get a cheap spray gun. depending on your comp you may want an hlvp gun

most sizes 1.4 and up should be fine.

The Chef sprays all his liquid mask, I'd PM him about it and see what he says. I think he thins it slightly but from what I remember he was putting through a large airbrush.

I've always just used a reasonably good quality paint brush, it might not be quite as smooth as if you spray it (although I never have) but I can't see any problems, having been brushing it on for years.

deano261 11-10-2011 04:18 PM

would you still get nice crisp lines with it being painted as I don't think I can afford or warrant buying a spray gun especially if I am only using for personal use

jonmiller 11-10-2011 05:30 PM

it can be rolled, brushed or sprayed on and either way will provide clean lines.

+1 with eyean

I brush my liquid mask on with a soft bristle brush, I put on a coat dry with hair dryer apply second coat, etc etc I personally find 3 coats works well for me.

It applys alot more smoothly than you may think, as for the edge yep leaves a beautifully clean edge :D.

good luck and let us know how you get on.

I used to spray it on but now I sponge it on with a small sponge
Rcs Lm all the way
