no short course at worksop indoors
 

just been told that short course class has been cancelled due to one 3 entries!! one being me, guys if you dont get entries in we loose meetings!

Im glad they are out too. Id rather have another heat of buggies any day

SC done properly are great fun! It's a shame this isn't running :(

They probably said Buggys were shit when it was all touring cars at the time!...it's not the class it's the driver that makes it rubbish.
I'd run my sc and my buggies....

I've never tried it, your right, after seeing the heats at worksop it totally put me off, I have seen it for myself, people just wiping each other out, again, it's the masters, top buggy drivers in the country or almost, why do we need these hunks of junk spoiling the chances of another 10/11 good standard buggy drivers from getting a place at probably the best indoor series of the whole winter? :woot:

The cost of the hall has gone up another 20% this year also, it was already extortionate to begin with, you wouldn't believe how much it costs to hire that place.

Amazingly we have had more entries than ever before and a number of new names. We thought due to tough economic times people may be put off so we're really happy you all want to come :thumbsup: Its going to be the most competitive year we've ever had too! With only the 3 entries in SC and such high demand for buggy places you can see why SC's were scrubbed this year. Sorry! Get a big enough group of you together and we'll arrange a meeting at RHR if you like!

james i know why it was dropped, muzzy explained, my post in here was aimed at other sc drivers who have driven them and want to promote them,

they are great fun when raced proberly,rubbin is racing but its other peoples interpretation of that,that ruins it

Why didnt the other trucks take off? e.g. the As t4 truck? I personally would race these if there was a class.

When i was up at Ardent for the petit RC there was loads of T4 type vehicles sat on pit tables, i personally think they look great and have just got one, bits are cheap and they jump well, alot of people still have these sat on shelves, get em out n use them!! :thumbsup: it seems a shame that SC gets bad press but the driving style has put a lot of people off, yeah there is rubbing but when it becomes ramming it does take the shine off it. :thumbdown::thumbdown

I remember the same sort of badmouthing being done at Touring Cars, when they first came out - being as 1/12th scale was all but gentlemanly in comparison. Simples = tell them to "clean it up or don't come back, it's not crash-em derby."

But, frankly, the "cost of the hall" excuse is rather weak, as it costs no more to add a heat of trucks than it costs to add a heat of buggies (unless the point is to become known as a "buggy-only" club). I thought the point of club racing was supposed to be to make it open to all, 3 cars make a class, and not to chase people off with an elitist attitude because they don't own buggies. :wtf:

I usually run a heat of Short Course trucks at my meetings. I get a group of 5 people coming over and to be honest I have no problem with that.

However if on 3 people came week in, week out then I would consider not running the class. It seems that you've missed to point, 3 SC Trucks at say £8 per entry, or 8 buggies at £8 per entry...... It's also a nightmare as you have to then find people to help marshall the next heat.

If people don't support classes, then clubs will move to classes that will support the clubs!!

I think you missed MY point - if clubs don't support the classes out there (and allow room for their growth via participation) then pretty soon there's one class; and offroad racing has been about diversity since the early-90s, and if you don't keep up with the times and options then you're back to the same old single-class rules of the 1980s. ;)

This country does seem narrow minded though, new classes don't take off quickly and sure enough if the sales aren't there the products aren't available for long, same goes for spares.

From what I've read SC is massive in America, all the magazines over here are reviews SC trucks, they have been for at least a year. Maybe it's the financial climate at the moment but people don't seem to be making the commitment.

So if there are only a few at the clubs it's going to be another class that doesn't get a proper chance :thumbdown: unfortunately everything is down to numbers though, for the importers / distributors, for the shops, this obviously leads down to the buyers, if they don't have the money they're not going to buy a new class when the buggy they have is already paid for and their local club run them every week because there are enough people already owning them to run heats.

It's a pity but unfortunately it's the state of the world.

True enough eyeayen, the Brit racing scene does seem to be dominated by buggies compared to the States (those lads will race cockroaches if they could put wheels on them) - but I guess it was the "cost of the hall" excuse that got under my skin.
Being as if 40 buggies showed up there would be 5 heats, and by the same token if 43 showed up I'm guessing no club would send the 3 late entries packing any more than they should send the 3 SC trucks home. And at the end of the day one extra running of heats isn't going to kill anybody.
Classes, whether it be buggies or trucks, don't grow if you send anybody packing "because there's not enough to fill an 8-car/truck heat."

Im not sure if we have strayed off subject here abit, and im not sure how many attednd worksop but i wouldnt say its a 'club day'

some of the best drivers in the country/world maybe attend this event , it is usually full to the roof every meeting so if they have 140 garanteed buggy places full with reserves of course they are going to drop the 3 people that entered sc

i do have a sc and would probably raced sc this year if they was a class but i did pre book in for the other classes first .you have to understand that if the meeting is full with other classes (2+4wd) thats the way the meeting has to go surley ?

They aren't sending anyone packing, the worksop series is always over subscribed and from what i read they made the choice between 3 Sc's or another full heat of buggies.

With the amount of racers they already cater for there's no room in the schedule to just throw another heat into the mix. (running over 12 heats i believe, not been this year though).

In my opinion the club made the right decision, no point making a loss on an event to please the few when in the long run the club could close and upset the masses!
