as for the screws and shims i dont think its too clinical to use the exact screws and any washers/shims that fit over the end of the nose cone but that are not bigger than the overal size of the bearing :)

Am I right in thinking then, That all you do is shim out the bell until it is flush with the end of the shaft?

no cause some times u have to put shims on the out side aswell, but shim it so it does'nt rub on the flywheel but so u have about 0.5mm end float.
