Used brushless?
 

Hey guys, I'm wondering if buying used brushless would be a good thing to do. I have 150 pounds to make my Durga brushless, but don't know if getting lipos, motors and etc used would be a better idea. Also,mis a Durga suitable to make it high powered? I plan on racing in the future, but I see things like the associated b4 already having brushless for the same price. Help?

A hobbywing speedo and pretty much any brushless motor will meet your budget of £150 :thumbsup:

Your Durga will be good enough for brushless, but I would seriously recommend fitting a slipper clutch

A Durga is suitable for brushless, but a slipper clutch is essential (I melted my rear diff first time out with my brushless system without a slipper), and there are a few more upgrades that are advised too. See this thread for more advice

If you buy a second hand brushless system from someone reputable on here, you should be fine (I'd avoid ebay tbh). But you really need to upgrade to lipo too, as the power needed for brushless is more than a nimh stick pack can generally deliver.

If you shop around and get lucky, you should just about be able to do what you need for the money.

Ok thanks guys, I think I'm going to get the hex screw set, along with slipper clutch and aluminium suspension blocks because mine broke.

Anything else I need ?

Depending on the motor spec you intend to run you can get either 60A or 120A ESCs from HobbyWing for around £75 and £90 repsectively ... follow the link in my sig.

That will leave you enough to get a motor from several sources in there (HobbyWing motors have been submitted for Homologation now I believe). If you can get hold of an Orion motor though I'd definitely suggest you go that way!!!

Hobbywing is great value for money - you can't go wrong :thumbsup:

But seriously, consider a slipper clutch.

The Durga is a superb car - you'll have great fun installing a brushless system :)

Cool, I'm going to get a brushless system from someone on here probably, but what turn is best? I was thinking 6.5-8.5t but not sure...

I'm also getting a slipper clutch and a hex screw set along with lipos?

Hobbywing do some Turnigy Nano lipo batteries for a good price that I'd recommend. You could get ESC and Lipos from one order.
