I used to work in a model shop, they mainly dealt with Heli's and some planes. It was worrying all these older guys coming in missing the tips of fingers and stuff because of propellers and rotors, it was a bit scary to be honest :eh?:
If you REALLY want one I would suggest you buy a good simulator now, Reflex used to be one of the better ones but this was a long time ago so I don't know what's the norm now ? Anyway, practice on it every day, then next Christmas (2012) think about buying one. Someone I knew did it that way and saved himself so many crashes because he was so used to the controls by the time he actually got one. Otherwise you'll end up just watching it fall from the sky and beat itself to pieces on the ground, and they're not cheap to keep repairing, that's why I've stuck with cars, plus I enjoy racing, flying stuff is a bit odd, sure there are hundreds of skills to learn and develop but I still prefer racing :D
