Ansmann big-bore shocks leaking

Hi everyone,

This is my first "serious" post on this forum.
I have a bit of a problem with the shocks on the car I almost finished building.
All 4 big bore shocks which came with my Ansmann X2TE are leaking.
The one's in front only leak a bit but those in the back lose their oil on a daily basis.
I already rebuild them once but I can see no improvement. It seems they are leaking between the shock body and the lower shock cover.
The oil I received with the kit states it's density is 200#; is this oil too thin?

Hope I get this problem solved as this seems to be a cool kit.

Greets,

I had the same problem with mine, after speaking with woody you need to either put a thicker seal or 2 seals on the bottom cap that screws into the body then problem solved

hope that helps

Is this one of the o-rings I have to replace? or is it one of the washers? what replacement part did you use?

I had the same problem, it was the o-ring for me, I fitted smaller o-rings in the end & that cured it. Had to do front & rear.
The small o-rings meant that the tighter fit didn't get caught up in the thread & cap

Leaking shocks

If you fit 2 o rings it will stop the leaking

I am guessing it will look a bit like this.

I am sure one of the guys above will clarify this. I haven't had to do this to mine myself yet but I do have one set that needs a re-build as they were pretty low on shock oil when I took them apart.

Thanks for posting this detailed picture; if this stops the leaking I will post it ASAP! :)

dont forget to use a good thick grease on the o rings to seal them up.
diff grease works well, that's what i use and have never had a problem.

No! You need to fit 2 of the large black o-rings that go over the cartridge threads.

I think so too, or you can use teflon tape.

Yes thats the correct part number for tcmodels you have to get the complete O ring kit.

I can't be sure but I think I used the ones from somewhere in my standard bore shocks
