Experiences with Orion 90c Lipos

Considering Orion 90c Lipo (saddles) - how do you find them and have you had any reliability problems with them?

Thanks in advance

I have been running two sets for about 1-2 Months now.
They have never missed a beat. Not had any problems with them what so ever.

As for performance, Its really surprising! You gain quite alot of initial punch, and quite abit more at top end.

Also they are pretty cheap comparing to other lipos i think. JEspares have them at about the best price i've seen.

They are the best I've owned. Faultless so far!

Same here. I use a set on my 4wd since june, crazy punch, no swelling, great.:)

Phenominal. I brought some last week, changed over from Vampire 30c saddles, and didnt realise just how much quicker they were going to be

I was turning everything down at clubnight, from TX to Speedo to control the extra power, and still had too much  Will up the power gradually from now on as i get used to them...

Have been running them with Orion R10 ESC and Orion VST Pro motor, very very nice. Just need to fine tune my ESC though, so need to get / borrow a program box

Another +1 for the Orion 90C cells. Always balance really quickly (unlike my previous LiPos from new!) and are everything you need plus some out on track.

Tempted as a replacement for my carbon 4500 45c's... got 2 kits to buy 1st though.

I've been using these saddles for a three meetings now and suddenly one set no longer balances. They charge fine and still perform as cells but just won't balance.

Any ideas of cause/remedy would be really helpful

I cant afford to buy 2 set yet so I think Ill buy a second set of 45c for now, so if you are going to sell them let me know bud!

This sounds like a charger problem or a bad connection - what charger are you using? Have you checked all the connections etc etc ?

Orion Advantage Charger, and i use the same set of cables/connectors for the other set of saddles I have with no problem or issues.

Now I am a little confused - If you are using that Orion charger and have it set on 'balance' the charger pre-checks everything is fine before it charges so it should balance. What does your charger say? or are you having to switch it off balance charge to get it to actually charge?
It's the first i have heard with the Orion cells and even speaking to Orion they have had no similar issues. If they are so new i cannot see a problem in rerning them to the shop you purchased from but it is a strange problem - one also assumes you keep a charge in the Lipos -you must do that at all times - never drain them otherwise many issues will occur

Make sure your charger is set to "balance charge". just charging with the balance leads does not mean they will balance automatically.

Also make sure you leave some time between running them and recharging.
The harder you work your cells the more they will go out of whack.

However some packs can be a little out of voltage balance. Its not a problem just use and charge correctly and they will last a long time.

Tony, Neil thanks for the replies.

The charger I have uses the older firmware so there is no option to turn the balance feature off. I agree it checks the connection before starting but when the "lipo balance" message appears the current just fluctuates between approx 0.1 & 0.3 amps and never actually completes the balance process.

They are always balanced and stored with charge which makes this even more confusing to me. I'm only taking approx 2500mah out of them after a race.

I have emailed the shop I bought them from and await their reply.

same here with 2S 6500Mah 90C Orion, it balance charges up nicely but never "completes" and is stuck at 4.19~4.21v for both cells and doesn't complete.
