Race legal nitro engines
As is says above i am curious about what engines are race legal and which ones aren't, as i wouldn't want to decided to race at nationals and find out that i would need to buy a whole new engine. So any advice would be appreciated.:)

Any .21 size engine is legal but if you want to race in nationals you will also need a legal pipe. I know the Hong nor 2047,2062 pipes for are legal for 2008 but i dont know which others.

I have seen after looking around a bit that there is a HoBao Hyper 8 RTR BRCA edition. Is this completely legal because if it is then great i think i might get myself one of them but if it isn't then it may not be the one for me.:)

any 21 engine, any pipe starting with 20XX is legal.

the new EFRA ruling on pipes comes into effect for Offroad from May 31st
the BRCA are supposed to be adhering to these guidelines but as none of the new style pipes are readily available yet they are allowing us to run 2007 spec pipes for another year! anything you have already will be unsuitable under the new construction specs so will be un-usable for BRCA National events in 2009 copy of EFRA letter with the design differences illustrated http://www.efra.se/news/download/200...ept-2007V2.pdf of course at regular club meetings you can pretty much run what you like ;) enines are only restricted to size so its .21 only the other main thing you'll have checked anywhere is fuel tank capacity! 125cc including all lines & filter! |
looks like the HoBao Hyper 8 RTR BRCA edition is the way to go then. Less hassle.

You'll not get into any Nitro nationals, it's easier to get into the Neo ;);)

They were using the 2047's with most engines. The 2062 has been designed for slightly more bottom end than the 2047. Ive been running a Hong Nor 053 (which is not race legal, due to it being a 2 chamber) with my 21-5KT I will be trying a 2047 on mine next weekend and will tell you how it goes (I am doing truggys at the moment though not buggy's)
Depending on if you prefer more torque or more top end go with the 21-5KT or the 21-7KT and then the same with the pipe. I would go with the 21-5KT and the 2047, start with 14 tooth clutch bell (most buggy's come with a 14 as stock) with the 5 port you'll get more fuel economy and you cant use the GO .25 in a buggy ;) The BRCA Hyper 8 is very good to start of with though, and during the year you can upgrade the radio gear and engine etc... but it does normally come out more expensive :p Have a look at the SMD power packs as well, there a great deal and I've had great luck with my 7 and 5 port, GO 7 Port + Pi-811 GO 5 Port + Pi-811 |
:)It's o.k. my son & I are running truggies so the .25 is not a problem I'm just undecided as to whther or not to get the GO engine (based primarily on cost and that several people seem to be using them) or splash the extra cash on a Nova Rossi for myself, any advice on which to go with in a Losi 8T?:)
|
GO 5 Port + Pi-802 or a GO .21 5Port with a Jammin JP-2 which comes in Hard Coated or polished . You don't need a BRCA legal pipe (yet) for the truggy nationals. I ran a GO 5port fr the 2nd 1/2 of last year and it was great never let me down (in till the P/L finally wore out). The Losi 8T is great but parts to seem to wear and it isn't the strongest but is very fast and light, another option is the Hyper ST pro which turns great but is a bit heavy to say the least, and of course there's the new Hong Nor X2-CRT which i think is going to be the best selling car for 2008 every one seems to want to get one  maybe that's because it hasn't lost yet
