Tyres for shiney concrete
Guys,
I already have an idea that Green Schumacher are the way to go for shiney concrete, but what else is available for this surface. Are Ballistic buggy any good? |
is it indoors or outdoors. Because if it is indoors maybe schumacher yellow minispikes or yellow full spikes.

ooh, not sure about yellows, they will wear big time.
On 'normal conrete' we used to run green or blues mainly for wear rate. Or try some of the schuey 'blocks' they may wear better on yellow compound. other than that, foams. But if it is like the sports hall floors then yellows will be fine. It depends how 'shiny' it is and if it is in the slightest bit abrasive. |
GRP's might be worth a try, seem to grip like a yellow but don't 'go off' anywhere near as quickly. They may even grip right down to the carcass as that is textured to give extra grip

Yeh, greens will be dead almost instantly. I would try GRP's or poss schuey blues. You wont get the same grip but they will last much longer.
|
What GRP's are these? Conespikes seem popular? is there any chance of them being specified at regionals / nats?
|
I use yellow Schuy's at Caldicott, little wear and loads of grip.
The surface is like shiney concrete, and its very cold too. |

the perfect tyre for concrete/tarmac has got to be a JConcepts bar code.
but as these are not out yet...........use a losi BK Bar.....i used them at my track and as soon as it touch the tarmac it wheelied!!!.... failing that...a M3 compound tyre like a proline steppin is good! |

What happens with tyres? is it a similar process to the battery list for the EB board? Thanks. |
Yes it's confirmed.
The tyres are specified on the National entry form for each event, each event has nominated the same tyres. Pity really, the GRP's are a really good tyre. :( G |
Schuey RT1 or RT3 in green, if they're still available, might give better wear...

I assume its the same for regionals? |
Most regions do not have a spec tyre, it's a free for all. Well it is in the NE

There might be some odd looking things run when it rains though, but usually only on the 100% grass tracks. G |
