Team Wave Linear 10.5

Bought a 2nd hand TW 10.5 off Ebay. Wired it up last night and it appears to be a non-runner. In fact it caused my Novak GTB to get so hot the battery +ve terminal unsoldered itself! Now the seller has given me a full refund which is good of him as he's taken my word that the motor is faulty.

Question is - I've never seen a motor do this before. Would there be any reason that the ABC wires should be soldered up in a different order? The motor itself is not siezed, but although the armature spins it kind of feels sticky with no real "clunking" from the magnets.

Any ideas before I pull it apart?

Sounds like there was an internal short in the wiring.

A short would be a good reason for the speedo to get hot.

Ah well - I'll break it for spares.
