Metric or imperial??

Right I know the rat, monkey and other ansmann kits are metric etc
But the bolts that the kits use are we sure they are fully metric? Yes they have a 3pm thread BUT the hex as we all know strips very easy!

Has any one tried a imperial 5/64 driver in the bolts?? Much tighter fit than the 2mm drivers I've been using!!

Only found this out today...... Bought a second hand x2c from a member on here and found there to be a few bolts too rounded for a 2mm driver! And thought I was gonna have to get the dremmel out untill I found a stripped out bolt holding the rear shock tower to the gearbox! Tried a few of my 2mm drivers with no success, then thought I would try a 5/64 driver and now ALL the rounded bolts have been extracted

Give it a try and see what you think ;)

Hi Mate,

I've only tried the imperial tool on stripped hex bolts and agree it works well, not tried it on an undamaged ones though. As you know I replaced the hex's on my Core with stainless versions due to the stripping issue, a few pound well spent.

5/64 is a fraction smaller than 2mm, are you sure you're not just using a poor 2mm driver?

To be honest id just spend a few quid on new screws, the kit ones arent the best...

The 2mm driver is a ansmann one :)

This one will have the bolts replaced for some better quality ones ;) I was stripping the buggy down (as I do with all second hand rc's) to find faults worn parts etc!
