Did I just kill a LIPO??
Orion 3200 carbon jobbie. In haste between heats, mis-connected - +ve to -ve and vice verca. Small spark and tiny bit of smoke from the corally connector as +ve touched for a brief second. It was fully charged and yet it wont power up speedo (sp v2.0) and I'm loathed to try and put a chrge through it
Can a misconnection really have damaged it? |
I believe the Orion lipo's have an internal fuse.. So that has probably blown.
|
Have you checked that the speedo isnt blown?
|
i have seen that sort of thing just cause them to discharge. Try giving it a charge, it should be fine
|
First thing to do is to check with a voltmeter to see if there is any life in lipo is as previously suggested it has blown an internal fuse you will have no voltage reading .I Have twice briefly reverse connected a HW speedo big electric crack and warm connectors but thankfully both lipo and speedos survived both times
try another lipo if you have one it doesnt need to be fully charged regards dave |
speedo is fine, did 2 more heats and a final with it. No vm to hand, though would be surprised if fully charged LIPO managed to discharge - blown internal fuse sounds more likely... still, rather lose a 4yo lipo than a 3 month old speedo. I will try and charge it though... from a distance :)

Your charger may well check your cell voltage without trying to charge.
