Xcelorin cutting out
Hi guys,
My Xcelorin ESC has worked perfectly since I bought it about 3 years ago. I'm running the latest software with an Xcelorin 6.5T motor, LiPos and 2.4Ghz and it's all set up correctly (I've been racing for 19 years!). Recently it's started cutting out intermittently for about 2 seconds and then picking up again. When it cuts out I still get power to the steering servo, just not the motor. I've changed the sensor wire and motor but the same thing happens. I've put in my spare Xcelorin with exactly the same set-up and it works fine. So I think that there's something wrong with the ESC itself. Does anyone know of a good ESC repair service other than Horizon Hobbies themselves? Cheers. |
did you change the wires too or just the esc?
i found a break in servo wire and it worked fine till i went over jumps then put fail safe on :( also the switch wires can break near the very edge of the switch, so i made a little wired loop, so now my battery wire is my switch. hope this helps a little.. |
Check the lipo cut off. I used to run an excelorin and had the same happen. The draw was too big for the trakpowers, running without a cutoff worked, although be mindful of not running for too long and killing battery.
Reboot firmware, perhaps an older one from the website and see how it is. Choose what anyone may say, they are not the best and are a budget speedo. I went over to speed passion and never looked back.;) |
xcelorin

Dave - all wires (except motor wires) were transferred to my other Xcelorin which works fine, so definitely not that. Good thought though.
B4 sloth - not tried re-installing firmware, good idea. I know they're not the most "prestigous" ESC out there but mine have both been fantastic up to now and certainly good enough for me to be fully competitive at Regional level (and also good enough to woop Dave's backside, eh Dave!!). migsy - not changed the settings, which is why it's odd that it's started playing up. I think I'll give it one more chance by re-installing the firmware and checking the profile settings. Otherwise it's going off for repair in a jiffy bag. Thanks chaps. |
