5.5 in Dex 410 & Battery consumption
How much do you guys have to charge between races? If i do a lap or 2 practice and a 5 min run it is normally 3000 - 3200 mah which seems like a lot! It's a SP motor and esc is not maxed out. Just be interested to know if this is normal or not.

I've got a SP5.5 in mine, we race on the side of a dry ski slope, so it's pretty steep, but I only use about 2,000-2,400 depending on layout.
|
Southport I just put 1700mah back in. Ludlow's grass takes out 2400mah
|
Hmmm, sounds a bit worrying then. Drivetrain etc is free and my 6.5 use to use about 2500
|
I take out about 2300 in 2wd so i wouldn't worry.

@dibble
It is a lot by any standard. I usually put back that much after a 10-12 minute run. How is the motor and esc temp after those 6-7 minute runs? |
120-140 degrees F. Which should be fine. Reason why i am worried is i had a 6.5 a while back that started to use loads of juice and the sensor board turned out to be faulty.

I can do 7 mins with my 5.5, but I'm geared on a 19t pinion to try and keep temps down. I use about 3400mah on grass in our 7 min finals
temps are about 160 though |
Geared on a 19t pinion it will be revving it's tits off by the end of the straight making it get hotter won't it ?
|
One of the packs i charged needed 3800mah's. I also had a lipo cut off in once race. I assumed at the time i had forgotton to change the batteries, but maybe i didn't!. Think i will have a look tonight, see if the connections are ok etc.
|
Which track do you race on? Over 3,000 seems a lot for most tracks. On average I put about 2500, very rarely over 3. I think I was doing that at the oople meeting but that was 6 minute races

it's tight and twisty grass. anything more and I wouldn't last our 7min finals.
car feels mental when I'm use to grass and goto astro lol |
I am running a 21 pinion after looking at setups online.
