2 Cheap Ready to Run Cars

Looking for a 2 1/10 cars for a good mate and his son. Needs to be plug and play all gear included nothing too flash and cheaper the better! Would be good if both cars are similar. Looking to spend no more than £200 for both!

Fits the bill nicely but brand new would be a budget buster!

The ones I linked to are 2p under budget aren't they? (ok you d need tx batteries!)

Dazzler 12-08-2011 01:55 PM

That's full rrp too, I'm sure a model shop will come along soon and let you know they are actually discounted from that price too.. Should at least cover your batts and bring in way under budget.

A quick google, and the vantage comes in at £89!

peetbee 12-08-2011 02:24 PM

£89 is just mad!

There is always the Ansmann Mad Rat RTR at £99 as well. Although, I admit you will need a charger and battery on top of that.

RC944 12-08-2011 02:38 PM

just been chatting to my mate and there is too much to choose from

the ftx looks top value even at rrp but then i think it boils down to parts availability and cost right...

choices so far

- mad rat
- zx5 (150 new but can get them for around 75 used)
- edge
- phoenix (my personal fave only because i have a b3!)

ive told him to do a bit of research

Forgot to mention as well, the Mad Rat RTR is supplied with 2.4Ghz radio gear. For less than £100 thats not bad going....

yep we just noticed that too... had to refresh the page to make sure!

Not sure I like the bottom loading battery compartment in that. I'd be concerned that my cells would fall out part way through a race.

The Mad Rat RTR is possibly better value as it comes with 2.4GHz rather than 27MHz, also £99, but you will need batteries and charger. Might be able to do a deal for 2 at the same time at a local model shop.

i think the intended purpose is for some robust garden and nearby forest bashing action so depending on the fastening it might be prone to issues but hard to say without taking a closer look

peetbee 12-08-2011 03:31 PM

Who'd have thought that there would be so much choice at that price level!

mattybucks 12-08-2011 03:57 PM

I'd go with the Madrat as you can upgrade it once your budget allows.

VintageRacer 12-08-2011 04:59 PM

Mad Rat RTR @ £93.91 each
http://www.lancastermodelshop.co.uk/...%20Buggy%20RTR

Might be old 40Mhz version though, doesn't say.

£94.99 from eBay (states 2.4GHz version)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ansmann-Ma...item336a1d8120

Leaves a few quid for cells and charger (not many admittedly).
