Core RC 2.4 radios, any good??
 

Hi all
my old faithful KO Esprit 2 seems to have finally died on me, well the throttle has gone anyway...
so, although I love how those radios feel and perform, it was on 27fm anyway, so now might be a good opertunity to upgrade to 2.4
so, in looking around online I found that Core RC 3 channel radio combo that looks like good value.

so, if I have to get a new radio I thought I would ask if anyone has any experience with that radio?
also, comfortable for larger hands?

There are about 3 of us out here in Western Canada using stick radios (all UK expats) so there's not really anyone local I can go to for help.

I bought the Etronix version (Core is a re-badged product) for my son. Haven't had it long but first impressions are good.

It's a little smaller than I am used to for my hands but great for his. It has a good range of functions for the money.

The only real niggle so far is that the sticks pull out. I was tempted to glue them in with CA but was a bit concerned that I'd glue the entire mechanism !!

Get the pulse 2.4 FSHH steer clear of core software issues

I wouldn't bother with one I've had the core version since the first week it was released. While I havent had interference or binding issues. I find the whole unit unproportional and slow to respond.

It didn't seem so bad untill I tried a mates futaba:mad:Then i realised it was crap all along:mad:

Does that mean you have the DSSS version? As Paul said, the FHSS version is accepted as being better. I only have experience of FHSS so can't compare.

I'm sure there are many reasons why a system for much more money would be better. But at the moment, in my opinion, it is great value. I suppose if you are used to quality kit such as KO, you might be a little disappointed.

I have the DSSS version & have had plenty of problems with it binding properly, am on my 3rd receiver & only had it a few months
I would go for the FHSS version as Vintage said, these are the ones with the blue receivers not the black ones

I had a core tx and it was spot on but I bought it at the same time as a pal who initially had no problem's and then it started dropping bind, he tried a few different model spaces all seemed fine but then the problems started again, speaking to other club lad's one had already had his replaced and another was experiencing the same issues, i had no problems with mine but after seeing what happened to my mates and the other scare stories I/we both returned them to the shop and upgraded though this did meen swapping to wheel, it's not as difficult as you'd imagine and worked out way cheaper than better model stick sets. Going off the above post and seen as my rx was black it must have been a DSSS

I started with the core set, had loads of problems. The shop was absolutely brilliant and supported me (DMS).
They replaced it with the Etronix version which was much better. Now have the new Etronix with blue receiver as it fits better in the Schumacher SX3. good luck. :thumbsup:

As it has already been pointed out to you the new FHSS versions are much better, these are all with the blue receivers. They are very reliable and great for the money. Of course they are not a KO but depends how much money you want to spend. In my opinion very good for a budget priced 2.4ghz radio. Hope this helps.

sounds likebetter to stick with something I already know works for me.
I guess part of my problem is at 6 foot 5 I have corespondingly large hands, so the old KO Espirit2s just fit perfectly.
I anyone has an old radio I could use for parts to repair mine, or know where to look for such things that would be awesome.

It's really tough being a stick driver in a wheel country :lol:

From what i gather the tecnique is to buy second hand 40mhz and stick a 2.4 module in it, not done it personally but I'm sure there's someone one here who will have.

What's the unit like it looks fine does it just fit with no butchering the radio??
