Vintage racing

Hi guys,

I'm currently restoring a couple of Turbo Optima MIDS. I used to race years ago around Darlington but the club has gone now.

I see their are vintage races going on,could i race my MID if so could someone point me in the right direction please?

I currently have installed a Tekin G10 Pro ESC, Mtroniks HEAT 11x2 Modified motor.

The problem is the batteries only last a couple of minutes, i could do with some guidance as its been nearly twenty years since i raced!:wtf:

Cheers

Lee

I am sure Northy or Stu Evans will be on here at some point. I know that they run at York sometimes, but can not tell you myself of any dates or events. You could try sending a private message to Northy. Northy is his screen name btw.

HTH
Mark.

Alternatively, you could try finding York Off Road's website from the BRCA website. http://www.brca.org.

You sound keen.

Just get yourself a couple of new stick packs, just the cheapest you can find, capacity is unimportant.

We have set the motor limit to 19 turns, so the 11x2 motor is out. Don't worry though as there will no doubt be able to borrow a motor on the night, a few of us have some old 20 turn motors spare.

There are details on the York site as above - but if there is any specific questions just fire away.

Stu.

Hi Stu

Thanks for the help.

I've currently got Schumacher mini spikes on, are these ok or does the car need to be fited with the original equipment wheels?

I can invest in a motor if need be, any particular make? i read somewhere that the HPI 20t was the norm.

I have a few Tamiya models TT01, Tao5 etc. Can i bring the Tao5 along too?

I am also using 27mhz radio, is that ok do i need three sets of crystals?

thanks again

Lee

Mini-spikes are the tyre you need - yellow compound.

The radio is fine - just one frequency/colour will be fine.

The fastest motors allowed are 19t-spec motors, spec motor list, anything on there. If you want to invest then your local shop will sort you out, or there are generally quite a few second hand on Ebay.

The tt01 and ta05 are no good for York - we race off road only.

When I can make them I race a mid at the vintage, it goes really well though is simply appauling over any jumps of any size!

I didn't realise it was vintage this week, I am an egg :(

Northy 04-02-2008 09:33 AM

No problem Danneth, it was another TQ and win for the mighty ProCat, even though it was proper gash over the jumps :lol::lol:

Actually, until the track cleaned up, and I made a couple of changes, it looked like Jim's RC10 was going to be the car this week. He did say it jumped like a modern car though, where as the ProCat and XLS jumped like a demented herring.

Yes, a great night of vintage racing, even though the CAT's couldn't jump. Still frustrates me that I can get a 17 year old car going better around the track than I can my b4

That looks like great fun! Who's is the Mardave? how does that go? I've got my first ever RC car in my garage at the moment, a Mardave Meteor!
