NIMCC

I made enquiries about the possible use of their track for 1/10th electric buggies. This is a copy of the e-mail I got back. I've posted this to see who would be interested in coming up that weekend.

Hi David

Thanks for the email. The club is having its next race day on Saturday 13th August and I would suggest that you guys come along then. We can run an electric class along side our regular 1/8 scale nitro. My thoughts are to open the track at 9.30 for a1 hr practice for electric only followed by an 1hr practice for the nitro. Then kick off 4 rounds of 5 minute heats followed then by finals. During the day we could discuss the possibility of running electric races.

I hope this suits

Regards

Steven McClements

What do you guys think?

Hi Stephen,
It all sounds good. Ill try and drum up some interest this week
Will

As you know Will, the track is 100% astro-turf, so less maintenance required at the end of the day. Supposing we only get about a dozen drivers from both North and South it will let people see this excellent facillity. I plan to discuss things more with NIMCC on the day. If this is done right it, I feel it could be really good. Perhaps a multi-venue series in future including Lucan, Banbridge and Ballymena?

Even hosting a national round next year would be amazing

As always though, these things only work with the support of the drivers. I just hope that enough people make the trip. We can speak as a group to Steven McClements of NIMCC about what the best way forward would be. An experienced head such as yours Will would be of great help. Hope you can make it.

Has your stuff arrived back from Finland yet? Surely won't take u a full day to stick ur grass setup back on the B4......??? Do that in the evenings this week and come to Ballymena on Saturday. Racing there will be a really good shakedown for sunday, in fact, I'd say that those racing on Saturday will have an advantage on Sunday.

MiCk B. 09-08-2011 03:40 PM

Yep,

All the stuff arrived back safe and sound. Totally unmolested by any airport security staff.

Too much to get sorted out this week.

MiCk B. :-)

Really looking forward to this. Anyone from Dublin wishing to come follow me up in convoy (I'm taking Ian and a BIG lunch so there will be no more room in the Xantia ) let me know and we will meet you somewhere. Leaving Sandyford at 7am on Saturday...

pm me or phone me if you are lucky enough to have my number

Big thanks to Ian, Derek, Will and Colin for making the trip today. It was tough going with the changeable weather conditions but I think we all got a feel for how good the track is. Hope to have more races up there in the future. See you at Lucan tomorrow.

Reall enjoyed the racing today, shame about the weather though. definitely will be returning on a better day hopefully. Track was good even if it was a bit slippy.

The track was awesome in the dry - reminded me of racing on carpet.
Really looking forward to getting back up there.

I thanked Steven McClements of the NIMCC for their hospitality after the racing was finished especially as they never took any money from us for the use of the track. He has agreed to ask at the next committee meeting about the posibillity of running a National round at the track. Perhaps one of you guys could also make enquiries with the RCCAOI about this, it would be awesome.
