Ansmann Vapor Brushless
 

I've just bought a Vapor Brushless rolling chassis and need to get hold of a suitable motor, esc and batteries.

I've been looking around in the internet trying to get the original spec parts but can't seem to find what they should be.

There are so many motors and esc's out there I really don't know where to start.

I have two options, save and buy the best that I can get, or go for a more budget based set up.

Any advice or assistance greatly appreciated!!!

You can get the original Ansmann ones, your local Ansmann stockist should be able to find them !

I've had a chat with my local supplier and he's quoted me £180 - £200.

I was hoping that there might be some "after market" parts that would do the job just as well but might be a little cheaper.

If money were no object what would you go for and what sort of performance would you expect?

From memory I thought the ansmann comes with an 80a hobbywing esc.

I would definitely go the censored 150a hobbywing motor and programme card. About 130-150 pounds. You can't go wrong.
I have run two for 2 seasons without problem.

Hobby wing looks like a good bet then.

The EZRUN Pro Brushless 150a ESC is £65.90 on ebay.

Motor wise can I put one of these with it?

Those 3 motors are all quite different - the first is a 540 size can, but the fins actually mean its a little smaller, so suits lightweight 1/10th cars, the third is a regular 540, and the middle one is much larger (42mm diameter, 74mm long, 5mm shaft, so requiring Mod 1 pinions), intended for 1/8th, the most suitable for a Vapor.

The other thing to consider is KV - are you running a 3S battery (11.1V) or 4S (14.4V)? The large 2000kv motor would well suit a 4S setup, but might be a touch slow on 3S (though it'll have massive torque anyway, so can be geared well up if you can get the right gear ratio to fit). 4S setups, it must be said, are pretty hot - it's a lot of power!
