Additional Weights on Worlds A-main B4.1's?
 

Hi all

was just looking closely at the pics of Cav's, Mayfield's and the other AE heroes' rides... I can only see marginal weight added, anyone knows what kind of leads they had under the batteries, or bulkheads, or wherever else?

Neil Cragg was TQ and was using RudeBits weights - He has the full range and unfortunately I cannot tell you what he had in the car at this stage :)

Hi Tony, not to correct you but from this picture can you tell me what brass weights?

I can not see the brass tray, strap, corner weight or bulkhead weights.

Please dont take this the wrong way Im a huge fan of your products ,Just would like to know what and where they used the brass weights on the b4.1 long car

Hi, Like I said I don't know what weight they were susing at the worlds - Looks like Neil was experimenting with some weights up front only = cells are out of the car so could be the under lipo too - does look like he was running light by his springs etc etc

Any Idea of additional weights (if any) on Cav's and Mayfield's lengthened rides, or even Naoto's SWB? No offense to N. Cragg (and I was sorry not to see him defend his TQ :( ), but these three int'l ones are the ones I'm interested in, really... The UK drivers I would certainly expect to add a a lot of weight as this is their default configuration as I've clearly understood. I'd like to know whether the non-UK topguns can run (and win! ;) ) with cars that are "underweight" by UK standards...

I've noticed Neil Cragg always has his lead weight high up on the bulk head and servo.I wonder if raising the c/g changes the handling in some way.You can see some weights in the back of cavalieris car.

With all due respect, but the only weights i see are simple pieces of lead of a few cent, that they use to balance a real wheel/tyre, are they using only brass weights in the UK then? ;)

as i understood it on dirt you run light same as you do low grip in the wet

I struggled to get the battery strap down on my 25mm high LiPos on my B4, i had to file the underneath of my rear shock tower to give me enough clearance to use the standard plastic and rudebits battery strap..........!!!

Yes, raising the cg will cause the car to pitch and roll more - not normally a good thing - unless there isn't enough grip to cause any in the first place. It is by timing the pitch and roll we cause our cars to make front rear and side bite to drive round the track, if it there isn't any the car is unresponsive to the driver input.

Can anyone explain why it would be right to go light in low grip please? I can think of 1 reason but a good explanation would be food for thought.

Anyone back from over there can shed some light on how much weight on the 'ricans rides? I also saw Lee Martin only had 15gms on his trf201, whereas he usually runs a brick...

You may find if you use a B4.1 rear shock tower you won't need to do any filing, least that's what I found

I thought both the B4 and B4.1 rear shock towers had the same part numbers........:confused::confused::confused:

Martin said that he likes to run heavy on astro and light on dirt.
I think he used a front brass bulkhead though.

There is more room under the B4.1 tower and yes the same part number as they replace the old ones - also when and if you use a thicker under lipo you can easilly run the strap over the rear tower - so long as pinned at the front it is going no where.

When I was running for Associated I used to force my strap down - it really doen't harm

I used the FT carbon strap on my B4 and just nibbled the end of it off with a dremel - it was held in place by the thumbscrews at the front.

Like Tony says, it's perfectly fine and secure :thumbsup:

How do these car pass minimum weight without additional weights added?
