So the big teams didnt go, does that stop the drivers going under there own guise then? Would have thought it would be good to make a name for yourself...

It was in the height of the recession and I think lots of RC companies were worried about survival. Its pretty expensive to send a team to the World, and the only return is the prestige.

TBH was a shame, 8th worlds in jakarta,you could soon get in deep water in that part of the world, was in a secure compound:woot:, yet all went.

I think if usa didn't think the whole world was out to get them at that time and let the team go, others would have gone to, but once the ball got rolling.

Masami apparently had his hand luggage stolen on the way back from the TC Worlds in SA, and at least 2 people were carjacked between the track and the hotel, or the hotel and airport. Overall, the teams let the drivers choose to attend, and most people thought the event wasn't safe so decided not to go.
